I share the concerns of local campaigner Lisa Harding regarding the potential for a new Sainsbury’s in Knaphill. I fail to see how to a new Sainsbury’s in the High Street will create more jobs than it will threaten. The noise from deliveries and the extra traffic it will bring to the High Street as well as the proposed location of the site relative to the existing crossing pose a significant concern.
More details can be seen on Lisa’s blog here
Cllr Ric Sharp and I have made a commitment to a number of local residents that one of us will speak against this proposal if it reaches the Planning Committee stage. It is likely that due to the rules of the committee only one ward councillor from each party will be able to speak and therefore it will be one of us speaking for us both, at the meeting, should the opportunity arise.1 Comment
