At a meeting of the Full Council on Monday 19^th April at I proposed a new Youth motion.  I am pleased to be able to say that it was passed. 

I promised to come back to the issue of youth following the defeat of the first Lib-dem youth motion earlier in the year. My hope is that this can be used to help support community groups who wish to use Woking Borough Council facilities and possibly be the first step to Woking Borough Council approaching Surrey to commission youth services for them as a service provider.  This would allow Woking to offer youth provision in line with local needs. The wording of the motion is below:

“That this Council notes the presentations on youth issues to the overview and scrutiny committee on 29th March 2010 and resolves to ensure that it works with Surrey County Council, community groups and other stake holders to work together, wherever possible, with available resources to enable suitable demand-led youth provision for young people in Woking.”
