Crime on the increase in Woking

by admin on 4 May, 2009

Looking at the local papers and some recent statistics it seems that crime is on the up along with the decline in the economy.  While policing is outside the realm of Woking Borough Council, as a councillor I feel it is important to remind local people about things that they can do.One of the best ways to prevent crime is to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour, no matter how silly you might feel doing so.Details of our local Knaphill police team is available along with details of when you can meet local officers and local panel meetings can be found at: http://www.surrey.police.uk/neighbourhood/neighbourhood.asp?area=WKNB

Attending local police panel meetings is a good way to keep the police informed of any local concerns you have.  Having attended a few of these I have found them very useful and I have been pleasantly surprised how responsive local policing is.  If local people have raised a particular concern officers have made extra efforts to pay extra attention to these concerns, often by putting in extra patrols to areas affected at specific times of the day.  Good attendance at the local police panel meetings is probably the last thing local criminals want.  Come along and show them we are watching, together we can make sure Knaphill remains a safe place to be.
