Congratulations to Cllr Diana Smith for being re-elected again to represent the people of Knaphill and Goldsworth West on Surrey County Council.  It will be a long hard fight getting Surrey County Council to provide good services and value for money, but I know Diana along with newly elected Will Forster and Mohammed Amin are a great team for Woking. 

The result in Woking, where the Liberal Democrats have moved from having two Surrey County Councillors to having three, tells me that local people are dissatisfied with Conservative run Surrey County Council offering poorer services for higher council tax. We know it is true that we get poorer services for higher tax as council tax has gone up and the number stars which Surrey County Council has have fallen.The people of Surrey deserve better and I hope that the County Council listens to the message that in Woking local people are not satisfied and are turning to the Liberal Democrats to take this message to county hall. 

I want to see better maintained roads, real youth services for young people, fewer coasting schools, higher quality children’s service and the improved value for money implicit in these improvements, I don’t see these changes coming from Conservative complacency, but from hard working Liberal Democrats representing the views of local people.
