Next Monday is the second birthday of the Cabin in Knaphill. It is amazing to think that the Cabin has already been going for two years. The impact that the Cabin is having for young people and the community is clear. Young people in Knaphill appear much happier and more engaged with the community than they were 24 months ago and there are now far fewer complaints from residents about anti-social behaviour from young people.
The long-term benefits for Knaphill of a thriving volunteer led youth provision of this kind will be enormous and I am sincerely grateful to all the volunteers for their hard work, dedication and creative thinking that makes the Cabin a success each and every week.
I wish I was able to volunteer more often, but the few times I do manage to attend each year are a great opportunity to see how the next generation in Knaphill are learning to play an active positive role within the community.
I would like to wish the Cabin, the Cabin Committee and the young people who use the Cabin a very happy second birthday.
