Woking elections 2010

by admin on 8 May, 2010

It goes without saying that I am over the moon that Richard Sharp was re-elected in Knaphill, even if it is by the small margin of 21 votes.  The large turnout at 69.54% was really pleasing as it is so important that people do get involved in elected their local representatives.  I know Richard, like the rest of us, is now itching to get on with representing local people to make Woking a better place to live.

There are so many people to thank for their help in Knaphill this election, it is hard to know where to start.  I think the best way we can thank people is to keep on working for a fairer Woking and a fairer Britain.

It is a real shame that such an excellent candidate as Rosie Sharpley was not elected to represent us as our MP, but she did remarkably well against the trend in the region, increasing the percentage of the vote that the Lib-dem’s received in Woking from 33.1% in 2005 to 37.4% in 2010.  Well done Rosie!
