Community Speed Watch Oak Tree Road and Robin Hood Road Knaphill

by admin on 2 May, 2010

On Friday 30th April between 8 am and 9.30 am I carried out a Community Speed Watch along with a Community Speed Watch volunteer in Oak Tree Road and Robin Hood Road Knaphill.  We were able to do this as the local casualty reduction officer has now marked a point on each road where we are able to carry out Community Speed Watch.

In Oak Tree Road we did not catch any speeding drivers probably as our bright yellow jackets and warning signs alerted people that we were there, but this is exactly the point.  We saw the familiar sight of car bonnets dipping slightly towards the road on quite a few cars as they started breaking once they spotted us.  Hopefully having seen us and seeing us again will make people think about their speed when travelling down the road and around Knaphill in general.

Robin Hood Road was a different story entirely.  We recorded a speeding vehicle approximately every 3 minutes.  The fastest vehicle was travelling at 44 miles an hour and the average speeding vehicle was travelling at 37 miles per hour. We hope to get out to Robin Hood Road much more frequently in future as it clearly is a road where some drivers irresponsibly disregard the speed limit.

All of the drivers recorded as speeding will receive a warning letter from Surrey Police.
