Neighbourhood Watch Knaphill

by admin on 7 April, 2010

I was genuinely impressed by the police stall at the recent KRA village meeting.  I was especially pleased to get information about opportunities to set up Neighbourhood Watch schemes in Woking. There are currently over 210 separate Neighbourhood Watch in Woking.

People interested in starting a Neighbourhood Watch can ask for an information pack and hand-outs to give to neighbours to see if they wish to join the scheme.  Someone needs to volunteer to be the coordinator, to hold an initial meeting with a representative from the local police and then it is up to the coordinator and the local Neighbourhood Watch members how arduous membership will be.  Members can be involved in activities from post code marking valuables to putting up Neighbourhood Watch signs and stickers in the area.  The beauty being that the time commitment is in the hands of the local members, with the aim being to create a sense of local community, with residents looking out of each other and each others’ property.
