I am pleased that Surrey County Council is making an effort with a scheme to create 350 new jobs in Surrey for young people, but I still do not think it is enough.  As I have said many times before, what is needed is more opportunities for young people to take up roles as so called white collar apprentices in local government and with the support of local government and other agencies in local businesses. We really do need to be showing the way as a council to avoid a potential lost generation of young people. This would likely have more impact for young people out of work as more opportunities could be created.  350 jobs for all of Surrey really is not very much.
