Road junction made safer in Knaphill – Finally!

by admin on 3 October, 2009

Junction of Barnby Road and Robin Hood Road

Ever since I was elected in May 2008 I have been campaigning to have the white lines at the junction of Barnby Road and Robin Hood Road repainted. It beggars belief that it has taken Surrey County Council over 15 months to do this, but finally the junction is safer, with fever cars approaching the junction unaware that they need to give way.  The dashed lines and the give way triangle that indicate this have been painted.  Fingers crossed it will mean residents having to listen to fewer drivers making emergency stops in the middle of the night, as drivers should be more aware of the nature of the junction.  The excuses used to explain the delay have ranged from lack of funds to changes in staff.  It makes me wonder what kind of muddle Conservative run Surrey County Council is in.There are still many other areas in Knaphill where white lines need to be repainted and County Councillor Diana Smith continues to campaign for these to be restored.  I hope we do not need to wait another 15 months for the next road to get a lick of paint.
