At the Council meeting on Thursday 16^th July it was a pleasure to see Mayor Tina Liddington presenting the Woking Community and Good Neighbour awards to so many people who put so much into the local community.  Without people making these efforts each and everyday the lives of so many people in Woking would be far less bright.

It was especially pleasing to see Eileen Martin and the Knaphill Residents Association (KRA) recognised for the work that Eileen is doing with the KRA, the Knaphill Youth Café and her work with Knaphill care.

It is a concern that some of the services carried out by so many volunteers are filling in for gaps in services run by local and national government, but with the current financial position of both, volunteer groups will become even more important, but worryingly ever more busy and with possibly less funding.
