Community Speed Watch January 2009

by admin on 2 February, 2009

On Thursday 29th January I carried out two community speed watches with local volunteers.  It was our first time out in Beechwood Road, Knaphill.  Once we had set up our warning signs there was a marked decrease in the speed of cars travelling along the road, we could even hear the cars were going slower.  We didn’t record cars travelling over 30mph, but as cars were clearly going slower we do remain concerned about the speed of traffic along Beechwood Road and Knaphill generally when we are not there to encourage people to slow down.

In Redding Way we were as frustrated as ever that we find motorists travelling as fast as 48mph along a 30mph stretch of road that already has a flashing speed sign to alert drivers when they are travelling over 30mph.

We will be out as usual this month, with our aim being that by being out and about we will show drivers that the local community cares about the speed on our roads and to encourage people to keep to the speed limit.
